Thanks @jonfeinstein for including my TEDxBend talk on Humble Arts Foundation Blog! It is surreal to be on a list with artists whose work I have admired for so many years.

I really enjoyed my time at AIPAD (The Association of International Photography Art Dealers) back in April and am excited to see the photograph "Angie and Me, 2014" on the the homepage of AIPAD.com
Removed is a series about device use that came from a very personal place. Making the photographs was a way for me to confront and analyze the changes I was seeing in the lives around me. The work going viral made evident that noticing this shift was universal.
As the creator of this series, I still find it difficult to partition my device use from my personal and family time. I knew there had to be a product out there that would help my family, friends, and supporters of my work regain control over where and when we use our smartphones.
A few months ago I began a dialogue with Aaron Zar, the founder of Silent Pocket. His line of patented soft goods serves the dual purpose of keeping your digital information safe as well as helping users to disconnect from their devices. Sliding your device into a Silent Pocket Faraday Sleeve blocks all incoming messages, emails, wifi, etc. which allows you to “Mind The Grid” as their slogan simply states. This feels different than powering the device down and allows you to quickly and fully engage with the individuals or tasks that are right in front of you.
I am excited to announce my partnership with Silent Pocket as we release the limited edition run of the REMOVED.SOCIAL Cell Phone Faraday Sleeve. I've been using mine at home while with my family and even while working on location so that I can be fully engaged in making my photographs. I am thrilled to see the launch of this product as I know it will positively impact the lives and relationships of so many people around the world!

I will be posting work I made while in Paris everyday until the the video of my talk is released. There is a countdown to the video upload here.
Excited to see Removed featured alongside the great work of Chrissie White, Paolo Morales, and Ben Zank.
After speaking in Oregon in April, and Paris just two weeks ago, I am thrilled to discuss my work in my hometown of Charlotte, NC. Please join me October 28th at the Dale F. Halton Theater at CPCC Central Campus at 10am. Tickets can be purchased here. The speaker lineup is incredible and cant wait to meet everyone. I will post about my Paris experience in a few weeks when the video of my talk become available. Lots of exciting things still to come!
Thank you David Rosenberg for putting together this wonderful piece about Removed and for introducing the ideas behind my talk. The post also shows the large format black and white photograph I made on stage. The print is also now available through Rick Wester Fine Art and I am thrilled about the interest for it!
I had a really fun time discussing my practice with Bill Ramsey for his show The Photo Tellers. We get into some great discussion about navigating the editorial world with Julie Grahame as well as how I found my way into representation by Rick Wester Fine Art.
I have been patiently waiting for TEDxPantheon Sorbonne to announce that I will be speaking at the historic 300 year old Richelieu Amphitheater in Paris on June 11th! It has been a lot of work creating an original talk for this event and I am so pleased with the way it has come together. I have been working with my speaking coach, Marion Chapsal of Ideas On Stage who has been incredibly helpful and supportive. I'm really loving this process and very excited to make some new work during my trip.
