I photographed my grandfathers 8mm film reels in the way that I imagined an archivist or even an archeologist would of their findings. I laid the films out evenly spaced on my grandfathers shirts and then back lit the reel. The resulting images of the reels in a way, create this tension between the sterile cold metal that holds the films and the warm glowing reel that modulates in density exposing the vitality that exists in each wrapping layer of color film.
