I'm honored to have my work in Act One: A Century in the Making, a 704 page hardcover with more than 600 photographs from over 100 photographers and essays by nine scholars and writers. Together they look at the first quarter of this century through photography.
Two events happen this week.
Exhibition opening, Thursday, October 22, 4 to 7 pm. The book comes to the gallery walls at QCC Art Gallery in Queens, in a large exhibition drawn from the publication. I'm excited to make the trip and enjoy the opening reception, and I'd love to see you there. Email to RSVP.
Panel discussion and book signing, Friday, October 23, 7 to 10 pm. At Picto Gallery in Brooklyn, I'll join photographers Andrew Borowiec, Greg Miller, Natalie Keyssar, and Q Sakamaki, moderated by Eva Woolridge. We'll talk about our work and the stories behind our pictures, and afterward there is a book signing and a chance to meet the photographers and the team behind the project. Space is limited and advance registration is required, so please RSVP on Eventbrite. Pre-orders of the book can be picked up at the event.
Huge thanks to Joshua Herman, the book's Editorial Director, whose vision brought it to life, to Marc Asnin, Creative and Visual Director, for gathering so many photographers into one body of work, and to designer Edwin van Gelder. Special thanks to Julie Grahame, who helped organize my involvement in the book. Details, events, and the book itself, a limited edition of 2,000, are at actonebook.com. All events are listed on the Act One events page.
