New York is showing off this week. The weather has been perfect, and I've been lucky to spend it with my friend Julie Grahame, catching up, walking, and laughing a lot.

Last night was the opening of Act One: A Century in the Making, the first showing of the exhibition, at the QCC Art Gallery in Queens. It will travel after this, but this is where it begins. I'm so grateful to everyone who came out, and to the Act One team for the remarkable work they put into the show. It's a beautiful exhibition, and I'm proud to have Removed on the wall.

One visitor meant a great deal to me. My dear friend Gesche Wuerful made the trip out to Queens to see me and the show. Gesche and I were MFA graduate students together at UNC Chapel Hill, and that program is where Removed first began. Standing in a gallery in Queens with someone who was there at the start of the project and whose work I admire deeply.

Tonight, in just a few hours, I'll join the Act One panel at Picto Gallery, 77 Washington Ave in Brooklyn. The panel runs from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, followed by a signing from 9:00 to 10:00. If you're in New York, I'd love to see you there.

More soon.
